ABOUT ALEXANDER SVENSON
I am a Clinical Psychologist, and I started Marka Clinical Psychologists with the aim of providing those experiencing challenges with their mental health an attentive, tailored, and evidence-based approach to psychological therapy.
My background involves working in private practice for several years and in larger organisations, such as with the Black Dog Institute, South East Sydney Local Health District (at Prince of Wales Hospital), and with Headspace. Additionally, I have previously supervised provisional psychologists completing their postgraduate training - something that I have found very rewarding.
I offer psychological assessment and intervention for people who face challenges which include:
Depression
Health Anxiety
Generalised Anxiety Disorder
Social Anxiety
Panic Disorder
Agoraphobia
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Specific Phobias
Emotional regulation difficulties.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) & trauma
Insomnia
Otherwise, I also welcome anyone who wishes to talk through recent challenges and stressors with the aim of improving on their mental health and wellbeing.
I am a registered psychologist with AHPRA, with area of practice endorsement in clinical psychology. I am a full member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA), and member of the Australian Association of Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy (AACBT).
I completed a Bachelor's of Psychology (Honours, 1st Class) and a Master's in Psychology (Clinical), with the University of Wollongong. I also have recently completed a Master's of Economic Analysis with the University of Sydney. I am currently a higher degree by research student (PhD) with the University of Sydney in the field of neuroeconomics (which combines economics, psychology and neuroscience) exploring mood disorders like depression.
I am originally from Norway (although my accent sounds American I've been told) and I have called Australia home for over 14 years now.
